Beekenkamp’s brassicas, a robust crop

In our plant nurseries in Maasdijk (16 hectares, Westland) and Lutjebroek (5 hectares, North Holland) we grow robust brassica plants in 315-cell trays for pressed plugs, in 280-cell trays for loosely filled plugs, in 96-cell trays or in press pots. Our experts ensure that you receive strong, healthy plants that meet your requirements. We supply more than 200 million young cabbage-family plants throughout Europe each year.

Our production sites

Beekenkamp Plants has production sites for brassicas in Maasdijk and Lutjebroek. Organic cultivation is also possible in Lutjebroek. Beekenkamp recently built a state-of-the-art, four-hectare greenhouse in Maasdijk for the propagation of brassicas, among other things. The greenhouse is equipped with the latest lighting technologies and is fully automated. The greenhouse partly uses an LED lighting system and reuses heat from other locations, so no gas is needed.

In-house transport

At Beekenkamp Plants, we have our own transport department. Our production takes place in Maasdijk or Lutjebroek. We can deliver daily, weekly or as a one-off service, in crates, racks or tray carriers. Our delivery times and dates are flexible. Personal contact is our number one priority. Our deliveries go from the Netherlands to Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland and France.

Brassicas in trays

At Beekenkamp Plants, our goal is the best quality and plant performance possible. That’s why we developed a 315-cell tray with pressed plugs, to promote air circulation and prevent root formation under the tray. This tray is suitable for fully automated planting machines. In addition, we offer a 280-cell tray with extra space per plant, which is also placed in the carrier to prevent unwanted root development and improve plant performance.

Brassicas in soil blocks

Beekenkamp uses the latest pressing and sowing techniques to produce brassica young plants in soil blocks with guaranteed constant high quality. We produce 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8-cm pots in a fully automated process using high-quality certified potting compost. We supply 3.7 and 4 cm as single or joined soil blocks.

“The variety of trays and soil blocks allows us to customise plants for every brassica grower. I’m proud of that!”

Hygiene is of paramount importance

At Beekenkamp Plants, hygiene is central to growing brassicas. To minimise the use of chemical crop protection products, we always wash our trays and boxes thoroughly in a special bin washer. At Beekenkamp Plants, we consider these hygiene measures very important and we pay a lot of attention to them. These measures assure our customers of clean, healthy brassicas.
